1. FujiHeavy Industries is the parent company of Subaru.
The company is currently in a partial partnership with Toyota Motor Corporation, which owns 16.5% of FujiHeavy Industries.
2. Subaru’s name and logo comes from the Pleiades constellation.
The Pleiades is also called “Seven Sisters” and is one of the brightest in the night sky. The logo alludes to the five companies that merged to create FujiHeavy Industries, and the word “Subaru” means “united” in Japanese.
3. The first Subaru was the Subaru 1500, made in 1954.
It had a 1.5 liter, four-cylinder OHV engine and was originally named the P-1 while the car was in development.
4. Subaru WRX was once the most ticketed car in America.
An Insurance.com study in 2014 found that 33.6% of Subaru WRX drivers reported getting tickets for moving violations—more than any other make or model. However, the more recent study released in 2016 saw the Subaru WRX fall to number 12 on the list with 30% of drivers receiving tickets.

Subarus are the only vehicles on the market with symmetrical all-wheel drive. Symmetrical all-wheel drive allows for better traction, balance, and control.
9. The Subaru of Indiana Automotive plant has zero landfill status.
That means nothing from the plant’s manufacturing process enters landfills, and 100% of manufacturing waste is either recycled or turned into electricity. Not only does Subaru’s Indiana plant have zero landfill status, but it was the first auto plant ever to achieve this status in 2004. 11. Subaru is the only auto manufacturer that uses a boxer engine in every vehicle.

The boxer engine’s flat layout allows engine output to flow directly into the transmission, which reduces inefficiencies and results in better fuel economy. There’s also a lower center of gravity for the engine, which makes the vehicle easily maneuverable, and there’s less vibration overall.

13. Subaru is well-respected in the rally racing world.
The brand has claimed 47 World Rally Championships since 1973. Subaru Rally Team USA was the 2016 Overall Rally America Champion and has 10 Overall Rally America Champion Titles for 2006 – 2016.
When customers walk into your dealership, many of them have already done some preliminary research online.
