The median car salesperson sells 8 cars a month. A quarter sell 3 or fewer; a quarter sell 15 or more; the top 10% sell 24 or more. What that pays depends entirely on the pay plan — enter yours below and the table updates with real pay at every volume level.

How Volume Is Actually Distributed
Most reps cluster well below the mean — a handful of very high-volume reps pull it up, which is why we lead with the median.
Share of rep-months in the Oct 2025 – Sep 2026 sales window.
Methodology
Measured across salespeople using AutoRaptor, crediting each sale to the last assigned rep. A rep who closes walk-ins without logging them in the CRM shows up lower in this data than they actually sell.
We report the median, not the mean. Across the sample, the median is 8 cars a month while the mean is 10.7 — a handful of reps at very high volume pull the average up. The median answers the question a salesperson or owner is actually asking.
Pay figures are calculated by the visitor from their own plan. AutoRaptor has no salary, commission or gross profit data — the price fields in our data are incomplete. We supply the volume benchmark; the calculator above applies whatever pay plan you enter to it.
