Used Cars and NADA

Published 01/23/2013

We are planning to head to NADA soon, so an article titled NADA Convention & Expo to Feature Used-Car Side of Business, Too in Auto Remarketing caught our attention.

Most of our business is with used car dealers, and we hope to see some of you at the NADA Convention. The fact that NADA is gearing sessions toward used car sales backs up our recent post about the need for independent dealers to find ways to compete with franchises that are putting more energy into their used car departments.

Of course, we wish all car dealers success, and our business is here to help dealerships of all types sell more. But, for the independent and BHPH dealers out there maybe a little extra advice can't hurt. Take note of Brent Carmichael's 5 Biggest Mistakes in BHPH. They are lack of:

  • a plan
  • the right people
  • processes
  • education
  • technology

Make sure your business is doing all it can to compete in the current economy and be successful!

Marketing MPG

Published 12/10/2012

Hyundai admitted recently that they overstated fuel economy claims on several of their vehicles. Consumer Reports predicts this is not something affecting just one auto maker - we'll see others having to admit they also inflated the MPG rating on popular vehicles.

But, Ford is not deterred by this news. They are claiming fuel economy superiority over rival Toyota in the midst of this controversy with new hybrid vehicles added to their fleet. Ford executive, Jim Farley, is also saying the industry needs to find new ways to market fuel economy. For example, rather than saying how many miles per gallon the vehicle gets, dealers could say it doubles the efficiency of the average vehicle or give customers what that means in savings on gas over five years.

With fuel economy being a major factor in the purchase of new and newer pre-owned vehicles it makes sense that dealers will want to highlight these statistics. What do you think is the best way to do it? What factors do you consider when buying a vehicle?

Did you 'YouTube' It?

Published 12/30/2010

With YouTube clocking in as the second largest search engine, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have a presence on the site. Most recently, we have been posting “How To” videos on various pieces in our application. What better way to show someone how to use the system, than with a video demonstration?

I searched buying a car, finding a car, financing a car, and lots of brand names. All of them produced thousands of results on YouTube. See, opportunities!

Do not fret. You don’t have to be a professional to produce a good, quality video (think point and shoot digital camera), start your own YouTube channel and post videos that will help your audience to find you. What’s cool is that you can easily share your videos on Facebook, Twitter, your website and more!

Seems like a good place to see and be seen…did you ‘YouTube’ it?
